Current Trends and Issues of Housing in Malaysia offers the readers on various range of trends and issues of housing provision in Malaysia. This book consists of three parts, namely Part I that presents the current trends of housing provision and its built environment in Malaysia. Smart home concept as a current modern living space and the preferences of housing buying decision among high-income group (T20) is presented in this section. Apart from that, in valuing the property, the implementation of Automated Valuation Model (AVM) has been reviewed among the valuation firms nationwide. As pricing is the main element influencing the buying decision, this section also revealed on the developer’s pricing strategy concentrating on the condominium and apartment, and finally, this section also describes the extensive housing urbanisation through the utilisation of oxidation pond (OP) as a biomimicry biodiversity haven for aquatic birds. This is to ensure the sustainability of OPs as biodiversity havens against the threats of urbanisation.
Part II of this book describes on the current issues of housing provision in Malaysia, ranging from the stigmatised house dilemma in the decision making of buying or renting the house, until the abandon housing project development issues. Apart from that, the pandemic Covid-19 solutions towards the housing provision by the developers in providing a foundation that enables individuals and communities to live healthier also presented in this section.
Finally, Part III of this book covers the impact of built environment on community and society’s safety and wellbeing. It consists of individual safety, property safety and the safety of building structures, besides the discussion on the impact of social and cultural life towards the residents.
