Description

This book attempts to contribute and share some related researches and reviews on the topics of optical fiber sensors, optical networks and their topology, next-generation passive optical networks with security challenges, wideband semiconductor optical amplifiers, and waveguide fabrication. The book is organized in a way that is suitable to be one of the references, not only for research students but for experienced researchers as well. The book is also handy for special topics in optical fiber in sensing applications, communication, and networks courses. Research in optical fibers sensors, communication and network continue to expand due to endless demand and requirement for high speed and high capacity telecommunication networks. In line with that, the book tries to highlight some interesting researches related to optical fiber sensors, networks, and communication, which include recent techniques, network topology, routing algorithms, and security challenges for next-generation optical networks. The book is expected to assist the implementation of a fully optical sensor, network, and communication that would overcome the speed and capacity bottleneck of the electronics scheme. In addition to communication uses, the acceptance of optical fibers in sensing applications, communication, and networks are also on the rise. Favorably, sensors based on the light signal are immune to electromagnetic interference, which therefore lead to minimal sensing disruption. These sensors have attracted a lot of researches and many of them have been widely applied. The book reviews some of them, besides next-generation passive optical networks, wideband semiconductor optical amplifiers, and waveguide fabrication for improvement and enhancement, particularly those related to the modeling, topology, and security challenges of the optical fiber sensor, network, and communication techniques. By reading the book, readers are expected to have a better view of the theory and applications of optical fiber sensors, networks, and communication.
