Description
This book provides a compilation of various literature and studies within the area of sustainable property. It has been shown that the three pillars of Sustainable Development which are economy, environment and social permeate various aspects of property including development, management and investment. This book addresses the current lack of literature on aspects of sustainability for property development, property management and property investment. Thus, chapters in this book can be broadly divided into three areas: topics on property management discuss general framework for green property management and its practices for office buildings in Kuala Lumpur with specific emphasis on green lease; chapters on property development review disaster management efforts that contribute towards sustainable housing and community development, type of housing cooperative as solution for current housing woes, and spatial indicator that can be used to assess housing sustainability and affordability; and finally a segment on property investment which presents chapters on a framework for sustainable asset management for REITs, how house prices can be affected by aircraft noise, and the linkages between water quality and house price. This book hopes to be a source of reference for students who wish to broaden their knowledge on areas of sustainable property as well for researchers who are interested to gain a comprehensive outlook for future research and decision making in the field of property.
