Description
Acknowledging rural variations and factors for the differentiation of economic performance of rural areas is very important in planning for rural development, since different rural areas have different economic performance and potential. Previous rural development policy did not adequately address the issues above. Therefore, this book evaluated factors impacting the differentiation of villages and households’ economic performance in rural areas of Johor, Malaysia. Six villages in Johor were selected for this study based on their location and different types of rurality. The study findings indicated that 33 indicators were found to significantly influence the differentiation of village economic performance at the village level, while at the household level, 17 indicators were found to significantly influence the differentiation of household economic performance. A model of differentiation of economic performance of rural areas (DEPRA) was developed as a policy recommendation for the development of rural areas.
