This book describes the overall management of horse manure at equine centers. It emphasizes on the use of six methods for producing organic fertilizer from horse manure: the Bokashi Composting Bin, Anaerobic Composting Systems (Tumbler), File Composting, Aluminum Composting, Plastic Box Composting, and Zeolite Manure Mix Composting. This book has 10 chapters and covers all aspects and processes in the production of horse manure into organic fertilizer and the benefits of its usage to the environment. It describes in detail the process of fertilizer production, such as planning, material selection, mixture ratio, and applying the fertilizer to plants to know its effectiveness. Additionally, fundamental knowledge such as NPK content and pH value of horse manure, as well as issues and effects of horse manure, are also discussed in this book.
Therefore, the existence of this book directly provides guidance and understanding on appropriate methods in waste management, especially horse manure to maintain environmental well-being and improve the quality of organic fertilizers usage on plants. This book was produced as an effort by a group of lecturers at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, which is the first university in Asia to offer a bachelor’s degree in the field of equine management.
