Description

It has been recognized that the building and construction industry has an enormous responsibility within the environment debate. Every person, organisation and institution has an obligation to consider ways to protect the environment and reverse the damage done to it over the past decades. The students and professionals in building profession need increasingly to be in a position to make choices based on environmental as well as economic and energy appraisals. The design professions can and should have a very significant influence on the environmental impact of the projects they design and develop. The book highlights the effect of buildings on environment and discusses the role of consultant organisations to minimise or eliminate the problems in general. Various principles of passive design criteria for hot and humid climate is discussed to emphasize the consultantsÂ’ roles in contributing towards green architecture. This is a major part of EMS components and needs to be taken seriously by all professionals in the building industry. The principles of EMS are reviewed and its practical application is discussed.
