Description

This book is based on research on existing escape routes in high-rise residential buildings, human behaviour during evacuation processes, understanding on fire safety in buildings and computer simulation using SIMULEX software to stimulate the evacuation processes. Evacuation data is used to formulate the escape route specifications suc as staircase, corridor and fire door parameters. The existing condition of escape rpute surveyed shows that there are four categories that mainly contributed to the problem in providing safe escape routes in buildings. They include structural design and construction, facilities provided, attitude of people and management issues. The books also contains a comprehensive simulation datam esacpe route design layout, human behaviour models and models how a fire safety can be achieved in high-rise buildings. The information will be very helpful to those who are involved in building fire safety audit.
